OREANDA-NEWS. Kaluga District Court brought in a verdict of guilty for the two fraudsters who used illegal methods to receive insurance compensation from Ingosstrakh Insurance Company in the amount of RUB 716,824.

According to case materials, Rovshan Abushov, born in 1978, the owner of NISSAN X-TRAIL car committed a flagrant violation of the traffic rules. As a result, his car went into a ditch and hit a tree. Realizing that no insurance benefit can be legally obtained for such accidents, Mr. Abushov decided to commit a crime in order to receive money to repair his car. He and his acquaintance Vladimir Markin, born in 1984, the owner of "Kamaz 5511", agreed to stage an accident.

To implement the criminal intent, Mr. Markin obtained a policy OSAGO compulsory third-party motor liability and a policy of voluntary liability insurance from Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. Then, at the appointed time, the fraudsters called a traffic police officer, their acquaintance, who committed an official crime and issued documents on the alleged accident. According to the documents, the accident was the fault of Mr. Markin, and the injured party was Mr. Abushov. Thus, Abushov became entitled to insurance payments under the insurance policies his accomplice obtained in advance for this purpose. After that, the fraudsters prepared all the documents and filed them to Ingosstrakh Insurance Company with the application for insurance compensation in the amount of 716,824 rubles.

While the employees of the Department of Information Analysis and Protection of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company were examining the circumstances of the accident that were specified in the application for insurance compensation filed to the company, they detected signs of fraud. It was found that the damage to the NISSAN X-TRAIL could not result from the accident described but had been caused otherwise and in different circumstances. The insurance compensation procedure was suspended, and the documents were submitted to law enforcement authorities.

After the investigation, the case was referred to the court, which found Abushov and Markin guilty of committing crimes under Art. 30 part 3 (preparation of a crime and attempted crime) and Art. 159.5 Part 2 (attempt at fraud in insurance industry, by a group of persons upon previous concert) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The court sentenced the fraudsters to fines totaling RUB 290 thousand.
