OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2014. POSCO published the 2013 POSCO Sustainability Report, which reports results of sustainability management to stakeholders.

The report which is in its 11th year is set on the `POSCO the Great` theme, the new vision of the company, and focuses on results in each sector of society, partners, shareholders/investors, customers, employees, environment and etc., and also covers in-depth plans to achieve the future vision.

POSCO combined family companies` ESG (environment, society, governing structure) results for stakeholders to easily see sustainability information of the family companies including financial, environmental, and social information. Last year`s `Key Issues` are separately organized based on importance evaluation results so that stakeholders can selectively look into issues of their interest.

POSCO, to increase reliability and transparency of the report, received verification from Samil PwC, and referred to ISO 26000, the international social responsibility standard, and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) G4, the international guideline on sustainability reports, increasing the national and transnational public trust in the report.

POSCO CEO Kwon Oh-joon in his publishing notes said, ``We will put our efforts into returning the trust of shareholders and investors with high corporate value, with win-win activities for the help of customers, suppliers, and cooperating companies, and with pride for the support of local society and people.``

POSCO published the first edition of carbon report verified by a third party in 2010, which was an unprecedented case in the world steel industry. POSCO marked its fifth edition of carbon report this year.

Through importance evaluation of carbon management, the 2013 Carbon Report reflected major issues such as carbon policy cooperation, carbon management governance, and others that are of high interest to stakeholders and of great influence to corporate activities.

The report includes Green Steel, Green Business, Green Life, and Green Partnership sections, which reflect POSCO`s low-carbon green growth strategy including the CEO`s will to carry out carbon management and major carbon management results last year, as well as investing companies` green growth strategies and activities in response to climate change.

Especially in the Green Steel section, activities to improve energy efficiency rates and unique innovative technology development were introduced, and results of reducing social greenhouse gases through high-efficiency steel materials were noted.

In the Green Business section, reduction results of POSCO which participated in domestic greenhouse gas reduction projects and green business results at the POSCO Family level were also included.

Further, the Green Work Campaign where all POSCO Family employees participate, and a POSCO carbon neutrality program reflecting creative ideas of college students were introduced in the Green Life section. Finally, the selection of POSCO as the leading corporate group in the 2012 Carbon Information Disclosure Project, and domestic and overseas cooperatives related to climate change are introduced in the Green Partnership section.
