OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2014. At the request of the Ukrainian side the Government of Japan has decided to provide grant assistance to hospitals and research institutions in Ukraine, which make a contribution to overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.

At its meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft resolution, prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade that approves the text of the Grant Agreement (in the form of an exchange of notes), Protocol to the Agreement, and empowers the Minister of Economic Development and Trade to sign it. The Ministry of Health is identified responsible for its implementation.

The signing of the Agreement will provide for grant assistance of the Japanese Government in the amount of 350 million yen (USD3.45 million) for purchase of special medical and radiological equipment for the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine, National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, as well as 5 regional hospitals (Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Kyiv, Rivne and Chernihiv).

Reference: According to the requests of the Health Ministry, National Research Center for Radiation Medicine, National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, grant funds will be used for procurement of endoscopes, computer X-ray systems, ultrasound systems, special vehicles with mechanized lift, organic synthesizers, incubators, liquid collector chromatographs, autoclaves, etc.
