The World Bank will provide financial support for implementation of energy efficiency projects in Kazakhstan, First Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies Albert Rau said at the conference "Mechanisms for financing and implementation of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan".

"Implementation of energy saving program is up-to-date. A grant agreement under which Kazakhstan will receive funding is being prepared, and we can make pilot projects in each region in a certain number of schools and hospitals, so that people can see clearly what effect can be gained from not expensive, but very effective in its performance measures of saving," A.Rau said.

According to him, the actual energy capacity of GDP in Kazakhstan decreased by 13.5%.

"In first five years of industrialization, the President instructed to reduce the energy capacity of GDP by 10%. In fact, energy consumption in Kazakhstan decreased by 13.5%, a law on energy saving and energy efficiency increase has been adopted," he stressed.

In addition, he noted that a state energy register of Kazakhstan’s major energy consumers operates since 2014, which spends more than 1.5 thousand tons of fuel per year.

"All the necessary conditions for development of energy saving have been created. Currently, practical implementation stage of these norms, mechanisms is underway. Current year is very important because we have come to an energy audit, all companies that are included in the register, must undergo energy audit," he concluded.
