OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport specialists attended the 45th Moscow Global Conference, Airport Infrastructure Improvement Patterns: jointly with UK, German, Moldovan, Dutch, Ukrainian and Uzbek representatives, Russian market experts discussed directions of the development of the essential aviation segment.

One of the key subjects was investments into upgrading aerodrome facilities, which would promote significant expansion of non-aviation passenger services. Domodedovo Aerotropolis, unparalleled in Russia, was among the most significant and global projects of that kind. The conference participants could take a closer look at the unique infrastructure development pattern opted by Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

Aerotropolis is the one-and-only town-planning form where the layout, infrastructure and economy are concentrated within 25 km from the airport, the 'transport megacity' core. Moscow Domodedovo Airport is to give rise to a whole new town - well-coordinated logistic and transport hubs, hypermarkets, business areas and hotel facilities will develop as a large-scale industrial cluster.

In 2013, the Flight Catering Factory was built within the future Domodedovo Aerotropolis together with the biggest catering chain, LSG Sky Chefs. In addition, such projects as a multi-level car park, a 30,000 sq.m. warehouse facility, two eight-storey business centers (over 20,000 sq.m.), a four-star hotel, a 226,000 sq.m. cargo village, with a cargo terminal, a refrigerating warehouse complex and an office / customer building, are waiting for their investors.

The international consulting agency of Cushman & Wakefield estimates that Domodedovo Aerotropolis will create up to 94,000 new jobs, and numerous for-profit companies in the unique town-planning entity will generate additional tax revenues for the regional budget. The Airport-City project aroused much interest in the conference participants: professionals call it the most advanced and diversified airport infrastructure development pattern.
