OREANDA-NEWS. In the course of the 15th International oil and gas exhibition NEFTEGAZ-2014 held at Moscow's Expocenter, as part of the integrated United Engine Corporation exhibition booth, NPO Saturn presented to general public one of its recent developments - the GTD-10RME industrial power plant.

The GTD-10RME being in fact a 4th-generation industrial engine is designed based off the GTD-10RM gas-pumping installation which has already spent some time in operation and is successfully operated at Gazprom's gas-pumping stations. The GTD-10RME whose efficiency is at least 35% stemming from the GTD-10RM engine is a pilot project for NPO Saturn.

Head of small-power industrial gas turbine engines in the company's industrial and marine applications division Sergey Kutyrev noted that 'at this moment the first GTD-10RME engine is undergoing tests at NPO Saturn. In the nearest future, the GTD-10RME will be delivered to UEC - Gas turbines, where it will undergo a full set of commissioning and testing as part of a power plant situated on the company's premises. The engine will be used as a drive at the test bench to investigate further into the power plant's performance. The power plant will demonstrate operability of the GTD-10RME to potential customers and it will also demonstrate that the installation serves as a source of electric energy, heat while generating additional revenue. The entry into service of the power plant will mark another step towards the market promotion of the GTD-10RME.'

Senior specialist of the marketing department, NPO Saturn strategy and innovative development direction, Sergey Proskuryakov during the presentation dedicated to the industrial turbine engine market underlined that 'the Russian market of industrial gas turbine engines in the power range of 8-12 megawatts has a good growth potential, which among other factors is explained by the development of the small distributed power engineering in Russia. The new NPO Saturn-made GTD-10RME, having high efficiency, will unquestionably be in high demand firstly with the oil and gas sector companies, with Gazprom, the utilities companies and may enter its market niche.'

NPO Saturn, being a supplier of industrial gas turbines for the gas-pumping and power-generating industries, has also demonstrated its achievements with regard to marine applications. One of the exhibits featured in the integrated UEC booth at the NEFTEGAZ-2014 expo was the E70/8RD gas turbine engine designed and developed by NPO Saturn.

'NPO Saturn always tries to keep up with the times, - shared deputy CEO for industrial and marine engine programs Dmitriy Novikov, - it tries hard to hear and see its customers, understand and satisfy the market demand. Today, we are experiencing an activation in both civil and military ship building; the oil and gas companies show interest in buying ships and coastal infrastructure object equipment for the shelf zone. NPO Saturn is ready to offer to that market a dual/single-fuel gas turbine engine of marine application dubbed E70/8RD. Besides, activation continues in the field of small-power industrial gas turbine engines to be supplied to Gazprom. In the nearest three years there will be a considerable increase in orders of the GTD-4RM, DO49R in the GTES-2.5 scope of supply. As far as the GTD-110 is concerned, the “Gas turbine technologies” engineering center is gradually working on completing all the scheduled technical tasks. In general, today NPO Saturn maintains its positions which were consolidated over the past few years, and we see a clear prospect of ramping up production on every industrial and marine gas turbine engine program.'
