OREANDA-NEWS.   The fifth power unit, with its main power equipment manufactured by Power Machines, has been launched into service at Sofia TPP.

Power Machines OJSC and Risk Engineering AD, Bulgaria entered into the contract to supply power equipment in 2012. In compliance with its terms and conditions, the Russian power engineering company manufactured and supplied a 35 MW steam turbine with a turbogenerator and auxiliary equipment for the fifth power unit of the plant. Power Machinesʼ engineers also provided installation supervision services and training for the plantʼs operating staff.

The new steam turbine for the Bulgarian plant was manufactured at Kaluga Turbine Works (KTZ OJSC) of Power Machines.

With the replaced power equipment on the fifth power unit of Sofia TPP, the power unitʼs capacity increased from 25 to 35 MW.

This project is a continuation of the successful cooperation between Power Machines and Risk Engineering AD: Power Machines manufactured, supplied, and supervised the installation of two 220 MW turbogenerators for the renovation of two power units at Maritsa Iztok-2 TPP in 2010 under an agreement with the Bulgarian customer.
