OREANDA-NEWS. Miami International Airport welcomed two new international carriers last week with the launch of scheduled service by Air Europa on Wednesday and Boliviana de Aviacion (BoA) on Friday. The carriers represent the third and fourth international airlines to launch new service at MIA in 2014.

Air Europa offers three weekly nonstop flights to Madrid - on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday - utilizing Airbus A330-200 aircraft arranged in a two-class, 299-seat configuration with 24 seats in Business Class and 275 seats in Economy Class. The private carrier is one of Spain's largest airlines and a member of the SkyTeam alliance. Through August 17, the service begins with an arrival at MIA, continues with a round-trip flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and then departs from MIA back to Madrid. After August 17, the service will be a direct roundtrip between Miami and Madrid. Air Europa previously served MIA in 2010.

BoA, Bolivia's flag carrier, is offering scheduled passenger service between Santa Cruz and MIA utilizing Boeing 737-300 aircraft. The new service to Bolivia's most populous city and leading business center will operate four times weekly with flights on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Initially, the service will include a stop in Panama City, Panama on both inbound and outbound trips.

"MIA is proud to welcome our two newest airline partners - Air Europa and BoA," said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. "Their presence here provides exciting international travel options for our customers and confirms Miami-Dade County's popularity as a destination for leisure and business travelers from around the world."

The two new airlines join Jetairfly and InselAir Aruba as the latest additions to MIA's growing roster of international carriers. Tomorrow, Qatar Airways will launch direct service from MIA to Doha, creating Florida's only direct service to the Middle East. In December, Finnair will launch seasonal service to Helsinki.
