OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2014. This is what a White House statement reads. In particular, during his meeting with Moldova’s President Nicoale Timofti, US Vice-president Joe Biden said Washington was going to provide Moldova with additional financial assistance amounting to USD8 million to support Moldova’s European choice and mitigate its exposure to external pressure.

The new financial support will complement the assistance of USD 2.7 million announced on March 3 and meant for enhancing productivity and competitiveness of Moldova’s industry in connection with Moldova’s prospects of entering the European market. Since Moldova is preparing to sign an association agreement with the EU on June 27, the USA has addressed targeted programmes for helping our country to realise its European aspirations.

Since 1992 the USA has provided Moldova with assistance amounting to about USD 1.2 billion of which USD 262 million has been assigned for the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact.
