OREANDA-NEWS.  Following another year of record passenger growth, Sydney Airport continues to invest in and improve services and facilities for taxis, buses and limousines at our Domestic and International terminals.

Taxis, buses and limousines are a vital part of the ground transport service and passenger experience. Sydney Airport has made a significant investment in infrastructure and services to support the thousands of taxi, bus and limousine drivers and operators at the airport.

Recent improvements include:

The construction of a new entry into the taxi holding bay along Arrivals Road;
Expanded capacity of T1 taxi holding bay;
Refurbished toilets at T2 taxi holding bay; and
The expansion and signage refresh of the T1 coach and bus area.
Over the next 12 months, Sydney Airport plans to expand by 40% the T1 taxi holding bay, pre- booked zone and limousine zone, refresh T1 and T2 forecourt signage, and upgrade bathroom facilities for taxi drivers at T1 and T2.

As part of Sydney Airport’s Master Plan 2033, further improvements are planned to improve traffic flow and provide new bus facilities.

To reflect the growth in traffic and continued improvements to the airport’s ground transport system and services, the ground transport access fee for taxis, buses and limousines will be adjusted on 1 July 2014. The taxi access fee will increase by 25 cents.

Access fees are reinvested in new capacity and improvements for drivers and passengers, as well as day-to-day kerbside and traffic management.

Sydney Airport has consulted with relevant stakeholders, including the NSW Taxi Council, to ensure taxi drivers are aware of the adjustment to take effect on 1 July.

Sydney Airport has invested around USD 2.4 billion in airport improvements since 2002 – around 25 per cent of total revenues – and plans to invest a further USD 1.2 billion over the next five years.
