OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2014. Top managers of JSC TATNEFT, headed by Nail Maganov, General Director of the Company, participated in the twenty-first World Petroleum Congress held in Moscow.

One of the largest and most reputable global energy forums to discuss urgent problems of the oil industry gathered in Moscow more than 4,000 delegates, including 400 senior managers and heads of industry organizations from more than 80 countries of the world. The Congress Organizer is the World Petroleum Council, headquartered in London, which members include 69 countries.

Experts, analysts and oil industry professionals exchanged views on innovative engineering developments, technologies and the issues of using the world's petroleum resources.
Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan attended the session of the Congress on "Investment attractiveness of oil and gas regions of Russia". Before the meeting, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, accompanied by Nail Maganov, General Director of JSC TATNEFT, had visited the Company's display stand at the exhibition of the Congress.
The exhibition, held in the frame of the international forum, presented the latest achievements of Russian and foreign companies in the production, transportation and processing of hydrocarbons, petrochemistry, gas chemistry and associated petroleum gas utilization, as well as the latest equipment for the oil and gas industry, promising engineering developments and achievements in the field of oil and gas production with application of new high-tech technologies.
The exhibition exposition of JSC TATNEFT included new engineering developments in the field of construction and sidetracking of multilateral downhole splitters, chain drives for downhole sucker rod pumps and technologies of wells' dual completion and enhanced oil recovery techniques, as well as other technologies.

Demonstrated at the booth of the Company there were the results of Ashalchinskoye extra-viscous oil field development, local well casing equipment, tires produced by the TATNEFT's Petrochemical Complex, as well as the samples of products yielded by the "TANECO" Oil Refining and Petrochemical Plants Complex.

The Company's exhibits presented advanced technologies applied in the framework of a large-scale effort to ensure environmental safety in crude oil production: corrosion-resistant pipes (MPT, PPT, NKTP, ZPP and SPT) and improved tightness tubing.

Speaking at the session "Investment attractiveness of oil and gas regions of Russia" Rustam Minnikhanov pointed out that the basis for the development of petrochemical and refining industries in Tatarstan is stable crude oil production. "A unique achievement of Tatarstan oilmen in the domestic oil industry is a steadily growing level of crude oil production within the Republic during the past 14 years," said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted the effective innovative activities of TATNEFT Company, which had increased the annual oil production volume by 2 million tons since 2000.
According to him, the amount of proved reserves in the fields of TATNEFT is 847 million tons, while 275 million tons of commercial reserves are on the balance sheet of small oil companies.
High professionalism of scientists, engineers and geologists of TATNEFT allows to for steadily increaing the oil recovery factor, which increased from 0.42 to 0.47 versus 1995 despite the late stage of the fields' development and a significant proportion of hard-to-recover oil.
Rustam Minnikhanov stressed in his speech that the development of crude oil production in the Republic was related to the extra-viscous oil: "The oilmen of Tatarstan have gained unique skills and experience of working with extra-viscous oil, in the development of low permeability clay and carbonate reservoirs. A package of proprietary technologies has been formed amounting to more than 60 international patents. Commercial development of extra-viscous oil fields is underway".

"Our country possesses a high potential of petrochemical enterprises resources provision. At the same time, more than 4.5 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas is exported annually," said the President of Tatarstan. "I think that we need a state program for increasing the conversion factor of hydrocarbon raw materials processing and developing import-substituting production of petrochemicals".

Rustam Minnikhanov also told the audience about the "TANECO" Oil Refining and Petrochemical Plants Complex constructed in Nizhnekamsk which commissioning had enabled TATNEFT to become a full-fledged vertically integrated oil company.

"We see creation of a new competitive advantage of the Republic in further deepening processing of raw hydrocarbons materials produced in the Republic and development of small business enterprises engaged in processing of polymers produced in the Republic,"  Rustam Minnikhanov accentuated.

At the end of his speech he stressed the investment attractiveness of Tatarstan as an oil-producing region and invited investors to the Republic.

A productive discussion on effective energy management was arranged during the forum, the delegates participated in plenary sessions, presentations of successful projects, business dinners, special sessions and roundtables.

In the frame of the plenary sessions, the representatives of JSC TATNEFT participated in the forum dedicated to the development of old fields with application of new technical solutions, as well as in the special session on unconventional oil and gas resources in Russia, in particular, to the innovative solutions applied to develop heavy oil.
