OREANDA-NEWS. In May Uralmashzavod shop №50 delivered rotary platform for EKG-18 shovel to Mikhailovsky GOK. In March the customer took delivery of the first batch of shovel components and joints produced by Uralmashzavod.

This large component was delivered from Novaya Station to Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk Region by rail. Trucks were used to ship a number of complimentary components and joints.

Another large component, the boom, is scheduled to be shipped in June. The 49-ton cargo has been produced, dyed and prepared for delivery. In April, EKG-18 undercarriage together with three tracks was delivered to the customer's site. Total weight of the shipped undercarriage amounted to 150 tons.

This will be the first EKG-18 shovel to operate at ore mining enterprise. Previous two EKG-18 were produced for coal mining companies Kuzbassrazrezugol and Southern Kuzbass.

EKG-18 shovel is designed to operate in severe geological and climate conditions with maximum output. Unique form of the 18 m3 bucket with broadened front and shortened back sides allows it to penetrate surface more effectively and fill up completely while decreasing energy consumption and reducing time needed for loading. Bucket teeth were customized according to the customer's request. The shovel is fitted with advanced AC drive allowing to reduce operational and energy costs. Microprocessor and information systems ensure all the operational parameters are under control, while diagnostic system and automatic joint protection provide additional safety. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning as well as heat and vibration isolation. Comfortable seat, mini fridge and microwave installed in the cabin ensure that working conditions are on top.

At Mikhaliovsky GOK Uralmashzavod builds the first pellet induration machine in post-Soviet history using the most advanced technologies. Soon to be the largest Russian pelletizing factory with fifth generation pellet induration system, the complex will have minimal impact on the environment. Implementation of new machine will boost pellet production by five million tons per year, making Mikhailovsky GOK the leader of Russian market.

Since 2011 Uralmashzavod has delivered 10,300 tons of equipment to Mikhailovsky GOK. The construction of the complex is scheduled to be completed in Q1 2015.

Mikhailovsky GOK, part of Metalloinvest, is the second largest iron ore dressing and processing operation in Russia. Today Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant is equipped with two OK-520 induration systems manufactured by Uralmashzavod in 1977. Capable of producing 6 mln tons of iron ore pellets per year combined, OK-520 were the state-of-the-art solution at that time. When construction of a new processing complex with third induration machine is completed, pellet production output of Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant will increase by a half.
