OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines has received the all-Russia award Souchastiye (Russian for involvement) “For contribution to promoting corporate blood donation”.

The Souchastiye award is given in recognition of blood donation promotion in Russia. It was established in 2010 by the Coordination center of the Public Chamber and National Fund for Public Health Development which organises, promotes and raises public awareness. Additionally, it is supported by the State Duma, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia.

Transaero's commitment to promoting corporate blood donation was acknowledged in a special Book of Winners representing the best blood donation events in Russia.

Transaero holds Blood Donation Days quarterly under the motto “Donate Blood and Save a Life!”. The event involves the company's employees working in Moscow and the airline's regional offices. Transaero has already held 19 such events. More than 1,250 employees took part in them, and 400 people have become regular donors. Thanks to the employees' blood donations, more than 500 litres of blood have been delivered to hospitals to help children suffering from serious hematological diseases and cancer.

Transaero actively involves employees in the voluntary blood donation programmes as well as in other charitable programmes carried out within its Corporate Social Responsibility policy. In particular, the airline holds fund raising events during Blood Donation Days. Money raised is given to the airline's partnering Charity Funds: Podari Zhizn (Russian for giving life), Nastenka and Schastliviy Mir (Russian for happy world). The employees also collect toys for young patients undergoing long-term and complicated treatment.

Transaero Airlines is implementing a comprehensive programme aimed at contributing to Children's Healthcare. The programme comprises complimentary air transportation for seriously-ill children to medical clinics, and a rehabilitation programme Back to the Future. Thanks to the programme, nearly 2,000 young patients have been granted complimentary flights, and more than 1,200 children have undergone post-cancer rehabilitation. Transaero's employees and members of their families actively participate in the programme.

Transaero is the only Russian transport company to be assigned with the top CSR rating ААА (s) by a national rating agency Reputation.
