OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2014. "Government debt to GDP stands at safe level," Deputy Prime Minnister of Kazakhstan, Finance Minister Bakhyt Sultanov said.

"Budget deficit amounted to 718 billion tenge. Government debt to GDP approaches 13%, that is safe," he told the joint sitting of the Kazakh Parliament underway in Astana.

The list of the countries by public debt ranks Kazakhstan 14th among 148 countries.

"The real GDP growth made 6%. Inflation reached 4,8%, that is 1,2% less as compared to 2013. Thereat, budget expenditures hit 5 trillion 99,1 billion tege or 99,3% to the plan. Budget expenses increased for 195 billion tenge," he noted.

Government debt amounted to 4 368.9 billion tenge at the beginning of 2014.
