OREANDA-NEWS. NEC Corporation, a leading provider of converged network solutions that utilize information and communication technologies, participated in the Latin America and the Caribbean Global Summit in Sao Paulo (LAC Global Summit), promoted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Sao Paulo City Hall, discussing opportunities for trade and regional development.

Takayuki Morita, executive vice president, NEC Corporation, participated in a panel on the theme "Towards a Sustainable City Model of the Future," along with Fernando Haddad, Mayor of Sao Paulo, Gustavo Pulti, Mayor of Mar del Plata in Argentina, and Monica Fein, Mayor of Rosario, Argentina.

NEC showcased its innovative solutions for cities and exhibits at its City Operation Centre (COC) simulating a wide variety of city environments, such as public spaces, critical facilities, factories, stadiums, rail and transit, as well as the possibilities of effective management through visualization, real-time analysis and prediction of events. Demonstrations highlighted the process of capturing data through sensors placed throughout the city, monitoring and predicting incidents by comparing data collected in real-time with historical data.

Moreover, NEC's facial recognition solution NeoFace was demonstrated for its security applications. NeoFace can be used to monitor facilities in order to confirm the identity of individuals whose facial images have been recorded by the system or to analyze unusual behaviors in a crowd.
