OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2014. In particular, under the Compact program, more than USD 43.67 million were allotted to rehabilitate 6 irrigation systems on the Dniester (at Criuleni, Lopatna, Jora de Jos, Puhaceni, Roscani and Cosnita).

The repair works were allotted to over USD 8.30 million at Criuleni and Lopatna; over USD 11.56 million at Jora de Jos; over USD 13.87 million at Cosnita and over USD 9.93 million at Roscani and Puhaceni. The funds assigned for the rehabilitation of 4 irrigation systems on the Prut exceeded USD 36.23 million.

They included more than USD 23.24 million allotted to the works at Blindesti, Grozesti and Leova and more than USD 12.98 million meant for the irrigation systems at Chircani-Zirnesti. According to US deputy ambassador to Moldova Kara C. McDonald, thanks to the rehabilitation, Moldova’s fruit and vegetables quality will be enhanced and Moldova’s reputation on international markets will grow.

As Agriculture Minister of Moldova noted, enhancing quality of Moldova’s products will help our country entry new, European markets. As it was said earlier, the Compact program with the total commitment of USD 262 million was signed in 2010 by the government of Moldova on the one hand and the Millennium Challenge Corporation on behalf of the USA government on the other one.
