OREANDA-NEWS. Mercedes-AMG wins two trophies at the "Engine of the Year Awards 2014": the AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine notches up a convincing double win in the categories "New engine 2014" and "1.8-litre to 2-litre". The two awards were presented today at the "Engine Expo" fair in Stuttgart.

As the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world, the unit from Mercedes-AMG won the categories "New engine 2014" and "1.8-litre to 2-litre", seeing off 36 and 42 competitors respectively from Europe, the USA and Asia.

This demonstrates once again the Mercedes-Benz performance brand's great expertise in the development and production of fascinating high-performance engines. The international jury was impressed by the AMG four-cylinder engine's exceptional performance and remarkable driveability.

The "International Engine of the Year Awards", which have been presented by British specialist automotive publishing company UKIP Media & Events since 1999, are among the most highly reputed awards in the automobile sector. An independent jury of 82 engine journalists from 34 countries chooses the best engines of the year in each of 12 categories.
