OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2014. The Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA”) announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary on the Mainland, The Bank of East Asia (China) Limited (“BEA China”), has opened a new branch in the city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province.

With the opening of the Fuzhou Branch, BEA China operates 28 branches in the country.

Fuzhou is the provincial capital of Fujian and a core member of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone. The Zone was established in 2009 to integrate the economies, transport, infrastructure, and policies of the coastal cities on the western side of the Taiwan Strait to enhance their competitiveness, social development, economic co-operation with Taiwan.

Fuzhou has traditionally been a major shipbuilding centre. Today, the city’s core industries include aquaculture, information technology, machinery, textiles, and tourism. Dr. David K.P. Li, Chairman & Chief Executive of BEA and Chairman of BEA China, says, “BEA’s presence in Fuzhou dates back to the opening of its Fuzhou Representative Office in 1992. Over the years, we have provided liaison and consultancy services to our customers in the city and its environs. With the opening of our Fuzhou Branch, we will be able to offer a much wider range of banking and wealth management services to our growing customer base.”
