OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) is aggressively using technology intervention to track theft of power in its area of distribution in North and North-West Delhi.

The modus operandi - TPDDL has installed Automated Meter Reading (AMR) based energy systems at Distribution Transformers (DT) level and carries energy audit of all DT on a regular basis. This helps in identification of areas in terms of energy mismatch and hence provides actionable inputs for Enforcement Teams.

The technology intervention has helped TPDDL to nab power thieves in areas like Sultanpuri, Civil Lines, Bawana, Alipur, Mangolpuri, Kanjhawala, Narela, Vijay Vihar, Adarsh Nargar, Jahangir Puri, and Samai Pur Badli. So far, 108 FIRs have been lodged in theft cases. A total of 439.9kw load was booked with billed amount of Rs. 1,12, 04,793/- (One crore twelve lakhs four thousand seven hundred ninety three.)

“Power theft is like a disease which cripples the power sector and results in huge losses for all stakeholders particularly innocent customers who have to bear the burden of other wrong doings. We are determined to stop this menace in our distribution network by using fool proof technology intervention. ” said a TPDDL spokesperson.

TPDDL is also sensitizing it consumers against power theft through various consumer communication mediums and encouraging them to report theft cases on its dedicated 24x7 helpline number 011-66404040.
