OREANDA-NEWS. Responding to the media requests regarding the situation with the implementation of the EU Regulation on security requirements to cargo shipment into the EU, Transaero Airlines has to state the following.

The Regulation (EU) 859/2011, obliging the carriers to pass security audit to carry cargo into the EU, was adopted on August 25, 2011 and comes into effect from July 1, 2014.

Transaero Airlines launched all necessary validation procedures straight after the Regulation was issued. The audit was carried out in several stages and took several years. It was over in June 2014.

Transaero Airlines successfully received clearance from the experts from Spain, the country designated in the EU for Transaero's audit.

Transaero has been validated to carry cargo into the EU from its base airports Moscow's Vnukovo airport, Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, Moscow's Domodedovo airport and St.Petersburg's Pulkovo airport for five years until June 2019.

Thus, Transaero Airlines, the third largest cargo carrier in Russia, has secured its clients the opportunity for timely and reliable delivery of their cargo into the EU guaranteeing the fulfillment of all its obligations.

For the first five months of 2014, Transaero Airlines has carried more than 25,000 tonnes of cargo and mail (a 10% increase over the same period of the previous year). The airline carried 20,000 tonnes on the domestic routes and nearly 6,000 on the international routes.

Transaero carries the majority of freight in the cargo compartments of passenger aircraft. In addition to this, the airline also operates two Tu-204-100C cargo aircraft.
