OREANDA-NEWS. July 07, 2014. As it found out, the power seizure of the building of International Association of road transport (AITA) has occurred. As a result, AITA received an official letter from the IRU, in which it was stated that Moldova is excluded from the system, and the current TIR carnets issued by AITA, is no longer valid.

In its’ letter, the IRU requested to inform the Moldovan government about the adverse development of the events and their consequences for the early return to normal operation in accordance with the TIR convention and IRU rules. Letters were also sent to the Department of customs and the Ministry of transport of Moldova.

As InfoMarket has informed before, in 2013 the conflict between the members of Association for power has taken place. On one of the general meetings of AITA, Director General of the IRU Umberto de Pretto drew the attention of the parties that if situation gets out of control, Moldova will be excluded from the TIR system, as it previously happened in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

According to AITA, at the time of a violent seizure of the building of the Association, in the runoff were present more than 15 thousand forms of TIR carnets worth more than 11 million lei, which since the exclusion of Moldova from TIR became simple paper sheet that is the direct losses of Association and its members. In addition, no one can calculate the losses of the Moldovan carriers, which transport at the time of the exclusion of Moldova from TIR was running, as well as losses due to the inability to further carry out cargo transportation.

According to InfoMarket Agency, the share of transport sector in GDP is 11%; and the budget revenues are provided by the customs bodies when importing goods, carried out by freight transport by 75%.
