OREANDA-NEWS. Aeroflot (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) has been named in the global top 10 in two categories of Aviation Week's authoritative annual Top-Performing Airlines ranking. Aeroflot ranked seventh among airlines with more than USD 6 billion of revenue in 2013, and sixth overall among European carriers.

In 2013 Aeroflot reported revenue of USD 9.14 billion and revenue growth of 15%. The Aviation Week rating is based on revenue and a number of other indicators of financial health, profitability, capital efficiency and business model.

Under Aviation Week's methodology, considered a global benchmark for the industry, Aeroflot scored 51.2 for 2013. The result put Russia's flagship carrier ahead of leading global peers including Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Air China, IAG (British Airways and Iberia), Air France-KLM and Qantas.

Aeroflot has continued to strengthen its position on the global market place in 2014, according to authoritative research from Air Transport World, which ranked the airline among the world's top 25 carriers by passenger traffic for January-April. Aeroflot ranked 23rd with 14.4 billion RPKs - even though this figure includes data only through the end of March.

The latest expert ratings show that Aeroflot is on track to deliver on its strategic targets ahead of schedule. Aeroflot aims to a top-five European and top-20 global airline by passenger traffic and revenue by 2025, with standards of customer service and corporate governance that meet international best practice.
