The decline was due to the fact that the export of alcoholic products in Russia is almost completely stopped, accounting for only USD0,29 million due to deliveries of wine by several enterprises of Gagauzia, which were allowed to resume exports. At the same time, the supply of alcoholic products in Ukraine at the background of the crisis in the neighboring country declined by approximately 2 times and totaled in January-March this year, about USD 5,09 million against USD 10.6 million a year before.

In this situation the largest consumer of Moldavian wine-cognac products is Belarus, where Moldova exported it in the first quarter of 2014 for USD 11.48 million, which is 8.2% less than in the previous year. At the same time, the supply of the Moldovan wines and cognacs in Kazakhstan has grown in 2,7 times – made up USD 3.46 million. In general, the export of Moldovan alcoholic products to the CIS countries decreased from USD 42,18 million to USD 21,05 million. The share of CIS countries accounted for 51.4% of the total export volume of Moldovan alcohol. The export of Moldovan wines and brandies to the EU countries increased by 3.5%- up to USD 8,56 million, or 20.9 percent of the total.

 However, deliveries to Poland amounted to USD 2.11 million (-10,3% in comparison with the same period of 2013), the Czech Republic - USD 1,94 million (-15,6%), Romania - USD 1.06 million (+3,8%), Germany - USD 0,89 million (+42.9%). Among the other countries, the export of Moldovan alcohol accounted for USA - USD 3,37 million (-18,7%), Georgia - USD 1,09 million (-28,1%), China - USD 1.08 million (growth in 2,4 times).
