OREANDA-NEWS. Following the results of the latest round of negotiations, Ukraine International Airlines, the leading Ukraine`s carrier, and Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbekistan national carrier, defined promising and priority guidelines for further cooperation en route Kiev - Tashkent - Kiev.

Thus, the parties attained pivotal agreement on operations` frequency. Each carrier will be operating two flights per week. Notably, both carriers` inbound and outbound flights are scheduled so that the demand of both point-to-point and transit passengers was met.

July 15, 2014, Uzbekistan Airways will offer non-stop scheduled service between Tashkent and Kiev, while August 14, 2014, Ukraine International will launch non-stop scheduled flights connecting Kiev and Tashkent. UIA-coded flights en route Kiev - Tashkent will be operated on Thursdays and Sundays, while Tashkent - Kiev flights will be operated on Fridays and Mondays.

Moreover, the issue of providing UIA with airport slots was settled. At Tashkent International airport UIA obtained slots allowing the Ukrainian carrier to further implement the model of a network carrier, to optimize flight schedule and aircraft turnover.

UIA and Uzbekistan Airways agreed to conclude a bilateral interline agreement on traffic documents` recognition and a code sharing agreement by late July 2014.

"We are pleased to say that the negotiations with our Uzbek colleagues have passed off smoothly and homely. Thanks to the constructive approach to addressing problematic issues, we came to an agreement and were provided with the opportunity to schedule our flights so that to generate transit traffic via our hub - Kiev Boryspil International airport - as well as to strengthen our positions on air transportation market between Ukraine and Uzbekistan, as well as other international markets, - noted Yuri Miroshnikov, UIA President. - UIA intends to operate flights according to current appointments and is pleased to see other countries respect the carrier`s rights. In turn, there are no barriers or restrictions for foreign carriers intending to operate flights to Ukraine - all procedures are simple and transparent. A carrier can easily obtain flight approvals, use airport handling services, register and open representative offices, develop its sales network, etc. Ukraine`s sky is actually open to bona fide airlines of any country of the world. We do hope that Ukraine`s expertise in providing foreign carriers with an opportunity to operate flights to Ukraine will become a good case for other countries. Thus, passengers will be offered a wider choice of travel options".
