OREANDA-NEWS. Expocentre (Moscow) hosted the General Assembly of the European Major Exhibition Centres Association (ЕМЕСА).

It was the first time the General Assembly of this reputable organization, which unites 22 leading exhibition venues from nine European countries, was held in Eastern Europe, and Russia was chosen the organizer of this event. A regular session of the EMECA General Assembly brought together a record number of representatives. Heads of 17 top expo companies of Western Europe took part in the session.

Expocentre Director General Sergey Bednov made a welcome speech at the General Assembly opening.

Participants in the session made presentations and discussed reports on companies' activities in 2013 and plans of their actions for 2014. The attendees shared opinions on the issues concerning promotion and organization of the exhibition business in Western Europe under challenging financial and economic conditions.

First Vice Rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Konstantin Simonov presented an overview of the current state of Russia's economy and its development prospects for the next few years.

Drawing up the results of the General Assembly, EMECA President Andreas Gruchow and the participants highly appreciated the event organization.
