OREANDA-NEWS. IZ-KARTEX, part of OMZ Group, assembled and commissioned EKG-10 mining shovel at Block-II coal open-pit, owned by Bharat Coking Coal Limited, a subsidiary of the Coal India Limited state corporation.

The contract for delivery of four EKG-10 mining shovels was signed in 2013. The contract became an important milestone in restoring long-term partnership between Indian and Russian companies, breaking a 14-year pause lasting since the Indian company stopped purchasing Russian equipment in 1999. Obligation to provide technical support for next 17 years became an important aspect of IZ-KARTEX victory in the tender contest and greatly contributed to the restoration of its partnership with the Indian enterprise. To ensure IZ-KARTEX fulfils the obligations, the Russian company decided to run a subsidiary and build a spare parts storage in the country in July.

Three other machines are currently being assembled at the site under supervision of experienced technicians from IZ-KARTEX. The company also dispatched two experienced shovel operators to India to train local workers. All shovels will be put into operation by the end of Q3 of 2014.

EKG-10 shovel weights 400 tonnes and has 10 m3 bucket capacity. This shovel is the most popular model of IZ-KARTEX product line. Today EKG-10 is the main electromechanical type shovel used at mining enterprises of Russia and the largest primary producing countries of CIS region - Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

IZ-KARTEX named after P.G. Korobkov LTD was established in 2005 as a successor to shovel production facilities of Izhorkiye Zavody. Today the company is the largest electric shovel manufacturer in Russia and CIS.
