OREANDA-NEWS. The Economy Ministry of Belarus, which acts as the country's antitrust body, has charged the administrations of Brest Region, Grodno Region and Minsk Region to discard their resolutions adopted in Q2 2014 to increase pig procurement prices. The ministry also recommended the aforementioned regional authorities to reduce selling prices of pork and other meat products.

At the same time, the Economy Ministry charged 4 poultry farms in Vitebsk, Minsk, and Mogilev to reduce the price of prefabricated poultry products.

Belarus was there to witness a shortage of pork as a result of the outbreak of African swine fever last year. The shortage of pork on the market caused the price of meat and poultry go up to the dissatisfaction of consumers and the government. The Economy Ministry conducted an overview of the market to make sure all meat suppliers work in the spirit of the antitrust legislation.
