OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2014. The Central Office of Sberbank hosted the final of International Student Banking Competition Banks Battle.

Ten teams from Russia, Ukraine, Croatia and the Czech Republic took part in the final. The winners were Dream Bank from the Croatian capital of Zagreb. Second place went to JDM Bank from Irkutsk and third – to ForestBank from Rostov-on-Don.

At the heart of Banks Battle is a complex simulator that imitates the process of managing a commercial bank. The students developed and then implemented competitive strategies, made managerial decisions and analysed financial results within the competition’s virtual economic environment.

This is the fourth annual edition of the competition. This season around 1,000 teams from 13 countries took part. The main prize for the winning team is an internship in Beijing, one of the world’s leading financial centres.

The competition is organised by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). Sberbank of Russia is the event’s general partner.

“We are pleased to offer talented students from different countries the chance to try their hand at managing a bank,” commented Alexei Mekhonoshin, Vice President at Sberbank. “I’d like to point out that many participants of previous versions of Banks Battle are now working at Sberbank. We are delighted our bank is attracting more and more talented and ambitious young people who share Sberbank’s values: I am a leader, we are a team, all for the client.”
