OREANDA-NEWS. ВVyksa Steel Works (VSW Open Joint Stock Company, based in Nizhny Novgorod Region, part of United Metallurgical Company, OMK CJSC, Moscow) has won the "High Social Efficiency Factory in the Mining and Smelting Industry" competition. The factory won in the "Environmental Protection and Resource Saving" category.

It is a tradition for VSW to introduce advanced solutions for an ecologically safe operation and to implement nature protection programs. "Vyksa Steel Works is paying extra attention to ecological programs," said Sergey Filippov, VSW's Executive Director. "Vyksa is located in a unique nature zone, surrounded by forests and ponds. Our factory acknowledges its responsibility to keep the natural balance intact."

The "High Social Efficiency Factory in the Mining and Smelting Industry" competition has been held eleven times. It was organized by the Association of the Industrialists of Russia's Mining and Smelting Industry (AMROS) and the Mining and Smelting Trade Union of Russia, with the support of the Department for Metallurgy, Machine Tool Building, and the Heavy Engineering Industry, which is part of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
