OREANDA-NEWS. As part of the Competition and Markets Authority normal procedure, it has today published an Issues Statement in its energy market investigation. Responding, SSE Chief Executive, Alistair Phillips-Davies, said:

"SSE will review this Issues Statement and respond to the CMA within the requested time frame. Whilst we will work constructively with the CMA to demonstrate the many features of the market that do work well, we also have a strong appetite for reform that is in the clear interests of customers and competition.

Along with SSE's price freeze until, at least, January 2016, SSE has demonstrated its commitment to the CMA process by suggesting that consideration be given to the benefits of replacing regional prices for transporting energy with one national charge, so that there could be national pricing where a customer pays the same price if they live in Stirling, Sheffield or Swansea"
