OREANDA-NEWS. ISS-Reshetnev Company has taken into storage LYBID, a telecommunications satellite that was built for the Canadian company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. In its turn, MDA was awarded this satellite construction contract by Ukraine.

According to the customer's decision, the satellite will remain in storage at ISS-Reshetnev's facilities until the launch date is specified.

LYBID is based on an Express-1000HT satellite platform which was developed and manufactured by the Reshetnev Company. With around 5600 W available for the payload, the satellite is expected to carry out its mission in orbit for at least 15 years. LYBID is equipped with 30 transponders operating in the Ku-band.

The satellite is intended to provide a full spectrum of telecommunications, television broadcasting and data transmission services across its coverage area, including Ukraine, India and Africa.
