OREANDA-NEWS. DTEK's power experts and the staff of a public utility company Voda Donbassa (Water of Donbass) are struggling every day to repair the Severskiy Donets-Donbass Canal and provide water to the residents in Donetsk Oblast. The Canal was damaged on 14 June when the hostilities just began. Shells and splinters would ruin big-diameter pipes, damage power supply to pump stations 1, 2 and 3 and cause filter stations to shut down.

Water has been supplied today to those residents in Donetsk oblast who have not seen in in their taps for long:

The locals in Belozerskoye (Dobropolye district, Donetsk Oblast) had had no water for 61 days. It is being supplied from Krasnoarmeisk filter plant repaired by DTEK and the municipal water company on 4 August. The water is still nonpotable and will be chlorated only today with plans to be delivered on Belozerskoye and Novodonetskoye on 12-13 August. So far, both towns are getting service and potable water delivered by DTEK's and municipal trucks.

Donetsk oblast towns of Selidovo, Novogrodovka, Gornyak, Ukrainsk, Dimitrov, Volnovakha, Dokuchayevsk, Ugledar and neighbouring localities will receive water very soon.

Since 11 August the residents in Shakhtyorsk have had a full access to water as on 7-10 August DTEK Donetskoblenergo managed to restore power to the pump plants of Shakhtyorsk water canal.

The town of Gorlovka launched its first filter station. The water supply will go up to 60% when the second filter plant will be powered. Both were damaged by the shelling of the town and suburbs on 7 August.
