OREANDA-NEWS. August 15, 2014. At the same time, Russia’s import to Moldova reduced 8.9% to USD353.5 million, InfoMarket was said at NBS.

 The share of RF in a total volume of Moldova’s export shrank from 28.3% to 21%, its share in a total volume of Moldova’s import declining from 15% to 13.9%. In January-June 2014, the unfavourable balance of trade of Moldova with Russia made up USD 107.4 million, up 63% as compared with the same period of 2013. Experts explain this fact by the ban Russia introduced in September 2013 on the imports of Moldovan wine and cognac.

A decline in Moldova’s exports to Russia is expected to become even more pronounced since the current figures show results of the first 6 months of the year only, whereas in late July Russia banned deliveries of fresh and canned fruit and vegetables from Moldova, which, alongside with wine, form the basis of Moldova’s export to Russia. Moldova traditionally exports to Russia wine, cognac, canned fruit and vegetables, juice.

Moldova imports from Russia energy mostly. The data by NBS leaves aside trade operations by enterprises of the Transdniestrian region.
