OREANDA-NEWS. The volume of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up about 61.056 trillion soums in the first half of 2014, or grew by 8.1% year-on-year, according to preliminary data.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the industrial production rose by 8.1% in the reporting period and reached 34.658 trillion soums.

In the first half of 2013, the volume of production of agriculture goods rose by 6.9% year-on-year and reached 15.311 trillion soums. The investments into fixed capital reached 15.014 trillion soums or grew by 10.8% year-on-year.

The volume of constructions works increased by 17.4% year-on-year in January-June 2014 and reached 9.394 trillion soums.

About 637.4 million tonnes of freight were transported in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2014, which rose by 4.6% year-on-year. The freight turnover reached 40.239 billion tonnes-km (+2.5%).

Passenger transportation hit 3.437 billion people in January-June 2014. The growth rate made up 4.7% year-on-year. The passenger turnover rose by 5.1% to 45.8 million passenger-km.

Retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up 25.91 trillion soums in the first half of 2014, which grew by 14.7% year-on-year. The volume of paid services rose by 14.2% year-on-year to 36.268 trillion soums in January-June 2014.

In the reporting period, foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan exceeded USD 13.856 billion and rose by 6.3% year-on-year.

The exports of Uzbekistan reached USD 7.22 billion (+8% year-on-yea) and imports - USD 6.74 billion (+4.6%). Foreign trade surplus reached USD 482.1 million.
