At present "Uzbekenergo" has a policy of full-scale modernization and construction of generation facilities, electrical grids and substations to increase the stability and sustainability of the energy system, which defines the main directions of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan № PP-1442 dated December 15th, 2010 "On the Program of Development of Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015" and annual investment programs.

The company on permanent basis working on the issues of timely implementation of investment projects, work with international financial institutions and foreign partners in order to attract more foreign investment sector, the best international practices and the installation of high-tech equipment. These measures will help to ensure the sustainability of the energy system and the reliability of power supply, the increase in electricity export potential of the republic.

In accordance with the investment program in 2014 are being implemented 28 major investment projects to create new, modernization and reconstruction of existing facilities, for the Ist half of 2014 for all projects disbursed 247.8 mln. dollars. (103.1% of the forecast period, with growth rate of 148.5%).

Currently, with the involvement of preferential credit the Export-Import Bank of China continues to implement the project "Construction on the Angren TPP power unit of 130-150 MW district heating selection for burning high-ash coal." The general contractor of the company "Harbin Electric International Company Limited" (China) signed contracts with suppliers for the manufacturing and supply of the main equipment, the construction and ground works are conducted at the site.

Works are continuing to expand Talimarjan TPP construction of two combined cycle power plants of 450 MW capacity, the construction of 370 MW CCPU at Tashkent TPP. The tenders for selection of General contractors for these projects are finished, the delivery of the main equipment and accessories had been started.

Under the project of expansion of Navoi TPP with construction of the second CCPU with 450 MW capacity realized with attraction of JICA means, together with the Consultant – the company "TEPSCO" (Japan) the bid documentation for the construction "on a turn-key basis" is under development.

Also "Uzbekenergo" pays particular attention to the modernization of the accounting system with the introduction of electricity automated system of commercial electricity metering (AMR). The installation of advanced electronic metering devices in the electrical networks of the company and consumers about 5.0 mln. in all areas of the republic is provided. The loan proceeds of ADB, the World Bank, IDBР and other investors are attracted for the implementation of the Project.

Wide use of alternative energy sources meet to the higher priorities and problems of power safety of any country and is the most quickly developing direction in power branch.

Within the framework of realization of the Decree of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan №DP-4512 dated March 03, 2013 "About Measures on the Further Development of Alternative Energy Sources" the works on construction of photo-voltaic plant with 100 MWcapacity had been stated at Samarkand region.

In addition, for the production of import-substituting, competitive products on the territory of Free Economic Zone “Dzhizak”, the joint venture with Chinese partners for the production of solar water heating systems (collectors) an annual capacity of 50 thousand units, the start of production is planned for September of current year. Actively working on the joint venture with Korean partners for the production of energy-efficient LED lighting products on the territory of Free Economic Zone "Dzhizak".

In the long term, within the framework of realization of the Program of Development of the Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and annual investment programs, the construction of nuclear power plant is not provided by the company.

Currently, the question of creation of training center for operation and maintenance of combined cycle power plants is worked. It is planned to create the modern training centre equipped based on modern standards of professional training for power plants for the work on CCPP technologies. In accordance with the preliminary arrangement the Uzbek party will provide building, the Japanese party will provide modern simulators and the equipment.
