The price of the natural gas for Moldova is calculated according to European formula that takes into account the selling price of gas by Gazprom to foreign countries over the last 9 months. The gas prices are set quarterly based on changes in prices for gas oil and fuel oil for 9 months, immediately preceding quarter of the gas supply. Until 2011, the formula included a reduction factor that takes into account the gradual transition of Moldova to the European natural gas prices. Since 2011, Moldova receives gas at European prices.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Moldovagaz" Alexander Gusev noted that, as it is expected, the price of the Russian gas for Moldova will be reduced in 2014 by about \\$2-3 per quarter and will decrease by approximately USD 10- up to USD 360 per 1 thousand cubic meters at the end of 2014.

The decline in the gas prices will be associated primarily with the global trends at the oil market, reducing the average European price for the Russian gas supplies to Europe. According to the forecast in 2014, the average price of the Russian gas for Moldova will make USD 365-370.
