OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2014. It is provided by the relevant financing agreement between Moldova and the International development Association, a member of the World Bank group, signed in Chisinau on 11 July 2014.

At the meeting, the Cabinet approved a draft law on its ratification. It is planned that the loan in the amount of USD 30.8 million for the public health system transformation WB will provide Moldova for the period of 25 years, with a 5-year holidays on payments under 1.25% p.a., with payment for its service of 0.75% and payment for obligation of 0.5%. The implementation of this project will reduce the country’s risk for the development of non-communicable diseases, and to improve the efficiency of medical services.

Modernization of the health system will support two main priorities. The first priority is to assist the government of Moldova in overcoming key risks and economic costs associated with non-communicable diseases. At the same time, the focus will be made on reducing tobacco use and more effective management in the primary care of the incidence of hypertension. The second priority involves the rationalization of hospitals and strengthening of the incentive based on the results of the method of remuneration of the health workers.

The new WB program for the health care system of Moldova supports the National development strategy of the health care system for 2008-2017. It is noted that the main part of WB assistance will be provided after verification of the results. As it was noted by the regional manager of the World Bank in Moldova Abdoulaye Seck before, the new program will help to increase the life expectancy of residents of Moldova, as well as ensure the efficiency of health spending in the country.
