OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power's nationwide energy and resource conservation movement, Club Enerji, has relentlessly been working towards spreading the message of energy conservation across the country. Club Enerji reaches out to school children through numerous interactive mediums and sensitises them on the need to save power through various conservation initiatives. In line with this commitment, Club Enerji today organised its 'Annual Principals' & Mentors' Meet' in Mumbai, and felicitated the best performing schools of the year for successfully conducting various Club Enerji Programmes.

The Annual Principals' & Mentors' Meet aims to connect with the Principals and energy mentors and provide them with an overview of the activities of the past year as well as with insights into the activities planned for the upcoming year. It is also a platform where the school authorities share their feedback, ideas and suggestions which help the Club to improve and grow. This year's edition of the meet saw the best performers of the previous year being recognised and felicitated as a part of the mandate. Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO and Executive Director, Tata Power, and Dr. Yogendra Saxena, Chief Sustainability Officer, Corporate Sustainability, Tata Power, also graced the Meet as the Guests of Honour.

Congratulating the winners, Mr. Anil Sardana, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power stated, “We are delighted and extremely proud to announce Pawar Public School, Bhandup; N. L. Dalmia School, Mira Road; and Oxford International School, Kandivali, as the Best Performers of the Club Enerji Programme for this year. The enthusiasm, involvement and dedication of the school students to spread the message of energy conservation is remarkable and has contributed towards making this a national movement. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and Principals of the schools for extending their support to this initiative.”

Dr. Yogendra Saxena, Chief Sustainability Officer, Corporate Sustainability, Tata Power, stated “Tata Power has adopted several initiatives on the sustainability front to build a better, greener future and Club Enerji is a fine example of how committed Tata Power is to that commitment. The enthusiasm of the participating schools encourages us to remain committed to our goal of spreading awareness about energy conservation all across the country.”

Club Enerji recently launched the Waste Management module which educates the students about the hazards of waste dumping on the environment and its impact on the ecosystem. The module aims to provide a platform to students to share and expand their understanding, thereby, bringing about a chain-reaction that can significantly reduce generation of waste and increase efficient waste management in the country.

The Club Enerji Programme has reached out to over 400 schools in India and has sensitised over 7 million citizens, who in turn have helped save more than 11.2 MUs of electricity till date. This is equivalent to saving 11,200 tonnes of CO2, and is enough to light up over 5,200 houses for a year. The Club also has 1,150 self-sustaining Mini Club Enerjis and has won several national and international accolades.
