OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2014. Russian Telecom Equipment Company (RTEC) took part in the Innovation Day of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

The event took place in Moscow in the premises of the CSKA athletics and soccer club.  The event was held in accordance with the order of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation to foster technological research and development, and to strengthen relations between R&D community, defence enterprises and Russian Armed Forces.

At the Innovation Day, RTEC demonstrated a fragment of its secure video conferencing solution. "Out of five products demonstrated here, four have been manufactured in Russia" stressed Ilya Levyatov, head of automated systems department, RTEC. It is an innovative product.  Protection works at two levels.  Because of the fact that the system is partially based on foreign-made components, it might contain some undeclared capabilities or "insertions".  Our technologies encrypt video conferences, counteract possible undeclared insertions and prevent data transmission via hidden logical channels.  As a result, we guarantee that national secrets discussed at the video conference will remain secure."

While demonstrating the solution, Mr.Levyatov noted that two video conferencing systems have been installed in Russia. The first one is installed between Kurgan and Kamchatka and between Nizhny Novgorod and Sochi.  The second one links Sochi and Moscow.  Both systems have been commissioned and certified.  At present both of them are operated. Both were developed by the Russian Telecom Equipment Company.  Mr.Levyatov also noted that RTEC is migrating to its own software, and is making attempts to switch to a locally produced element base.
