OREANDA-NEWS. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company Branch in Izhevsk concluded a contract of compulsory insurance liability of an owner of hazardous facilities for injuries and damage caused by an accident at the hazardous facility (OS OPO) pursuant to the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation. The policy was purchased by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Udmurtia. The limit of liability under the two contracts is RUB 1.5 bn.

The scope of insurance coverage includes two objects: the spillway structures of the hydroelectric complex on the Izh River in the city of Izhevsk and the hydroelectric facilities on the river Votka in Votkinsk. The insurance program is aimed at compensation of the damage to life, health and property of the victims, including the company's employees, resulting from an accident at the hazardous facility. In accordance with applicable legislation, the limit compensation for the damage to life and health of each victim is RUB 2 m.

The duty of owners of dangerous facilities to insure their liability to third parties is governed by Federal Law (No. 225-FZ of 27.07.2010). New rules of compulsory insurance of dangerous objects are in force from January 1, 2012 for commercial organizations and January 1, 2013 for state-owned organizations.
