OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2014. Associations have proposed 42 amendments to the law on social protection of disabled people. It has been reported by Vice Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Svetlana Zhakupova at a briefing in Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan in "Kazmediatcentre".

"We have a draft law on some issues of social protection of the disabled people. And about 42 significant additions and changes were made to this bill by the public associations. These rules concern all spheres of life – justice, access to education, health, public services. In addition, the transport infrastructure will be considered in full," S. Zhakupova said.

About 90 million tenge per year is allocated in Kazakhstan from the national budget to provide disabled people with taxi services. According to Svetlana Zhakupova, operating 110 units of invataxi complete, on average, 192 thousand orders per year.

As part of the "Employment Roadmap - 2020", 127 objects have been adapted to simplify access for the disabled in Kazakhstan this year. "It should be noted that 54 thousand objects had to go through certification. In 2014, there were issued passports for 22 thousand objects and about 127 objects were adapted within the "Employment Roadmap" and through funding by local executive bodies," S. Zhakupova told at a briefing in the CCS. 

At least 10 thousand people with disabilities have been employed since the beginning of 2014, according to Vice Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Svetlana Zhakupova.

"Since the beginning of this year, together with the Nur Otan Party, non-governmental organizations and local executive bodies, we've helped more than 10, 000 disabled people find employment," Ms Zhakupova told the Tuesday press conference.

"Thanks to such state programs as the 2020 Employment Roadmap, these people make their contribution and work for the benefit of the country and the society today," she added.
