OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2014. As a longtime supporter of culture, Nordea bank is pleased to present Part Days` concerts, which will take place in Tallinn, September 2nd to 11th. The programme includes a wide selection of Arvo Part`s most significant and rare works performed by recognised local and international interpreters. Nordea customers enjoy discounts on tickets if purchased with a Nordea credit card.

Part Days `s opening concert celebrates a huge joint recognition for both Estonian and Latvian musicians – a Grammy win in the best choral performance category. The two countries` best interpreters joint concert will feature Arvo Part`s works from the record “Adam’s Lament“ (ECM), which brought Tonu Kaljuste the most reputable award in the music world.

During Part Days, you can also listen to Part`s comprehensive choral piece “Kanon pokajanen“ from the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, who made this music alive for the first time performing it with Tonu Kaljuste at the world premiere. The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra will be performing a programme made up mostly of 1980s works. This is a period of time when Part`s music and performances were known in the world but little discussed in Estonia.

Two monumental concert pieces for a soloist and symphony orchestra will be performed at Arvo Part`s birthday concert –the composer has created only a few pieces in this genre.  “Lamentate,“ originally commissioned by London Tate Modern Gallery, will be performed by interpreter Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann, who has a special perception of Part`s music. The British soprano with Indian roots, Patricia Rozario, has a unique voice and artistic nature which has inspired many famous composers. “Como cierva sedienta“ was also created with the artist in mind.
