OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2014. Moscow. At the Moscow International Automobile Salon, GM-AVTOVAZ Joint Venture presents together with the Chevrolet NIVA Next Generation Concept, the Chevrolet NIVA GLC 1.7L.  The bright-red car has been assembled by GM-AVTOVAZ joint venture on July 2, 2014.

This reliable, safe and comfortable Russian SUV has been popular among customers in Russia and CIS for over a decade. The first Chevrolet NIVAs rolled off the assembly line in Togliatti on September 23rd, 2002. In May 2009, GM-AVTOVAZ launched a new, completely re-designed version of Chevrolet NIVA with significant changes in interior and exterior to make the SUV look more modern and improve its driving comfort. Throughout the production run, more than 2,000 engineering changes have been introduced into the design of the vehicle to update it to the latest technologies and improve quality, reliability, durability, ride & handling and, of course, safety.

GM-AVTOVAZ continues to develop and improve the current generation NIVA to this day. Over the past two years, several changes have been implemented including the introduction of a Safety Package, ISOFIX for children safety sits, additional off-road equipment, more powerful alternator, Anti-Dust Package, and improvements in NVH.

During 2013, the number of warranty defects reported by customers declined by over 50% thanks to many of these changes. GM-AVTOVAZ will continue its efforts aimed at developing the supplier base and maintain its constant focus on quality.

“Chevrolet NIVA has been in high demand in the Russian market for many years,”  according to GM-AVTOVAZ Managing Director Jeff Glover, “because it offers customers a tremendous value given its capabilities, low operating costs and quality.”

In 2006, NIVA was recognized as “The Best SUV of the Year” in the “Compact SUV” category and, in 2009, as “Best SUV of the Year” and “Debut of the Year” by voting journalists. It has been one of the bestselling models in the SUV segment in Russia for many years from its Start-of-Production.
