OREANDA-NEWS. On August 30, 2014, a bridge over the Volga River was opened to traffic in Yaroslavl. The overhaul of the bridge was conducted by local Yaroslavl firm Mostootryad-6, a branch of OJSC Mostotrest in the Central Federal District. The work was completed one month ahead of the contractual deadline. The project customer was Municipal Public Institution Agency for Housing and municipal orders of the city of Yaroslavl.

The reinforced automobile and pedestrian bridge in the center of Yaroslavl, which is 800 m in length and 18 m in width, was built and put into operation in 1966. It was named Oktyabrskiy Bridge in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 1917 revolution. The bridge has been repaired three times over the course of its operation, and was closed off in 2013 due to hazardous conditions.

The overhaul included repairs of the bridge piers and the replacement of asphalt pavement, waterproofing layer and the expansion joints. New paving slabs were also put in place and the installation of new handrails and barrier protection was carried out. Noise barriers were installed in order to minimize noise and protect the residents of nearby houses in the area from the 10th substructure to Oktyabrskaya Square, reducing the noise to levels acceptable for residential areas. Advanced reinforced materials were used in the construction project. The materials can withstand heavy loads of asphalt mixture, which will significantly extend the operation life cycle of the bridge.

The opening of Oktyabrskiy Bridge will significantly reduce traffic in the city center, redistributing car traffic between the two bridges across the Volga. The second bridge, Yubiliyniy, was built in 2006 in honor of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Yaroslavl. Mostootryad-6 also conducted the construction of the new bridge.
