OREANDA-NEWS. The Jharkhand Police, Tata Steel & Medica Superspeciality Hospital in a joint initiative with the East Singhbhum District Police launched the Jamshedpur Accident Response and Medical Assistance (JARMA) initiative at Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Jamshedpur.

As part of the initiative, six state-of-the-art basic life support Trauma Ambulances were flagged off by the Chief Guest of the event Mr Rajeev Kumar (IPS), Director General of Police, Jharkhand and Mr T V Narendran, MD, Tata Steel, India & SEA and Dr. Alok Roy, Chairman, Medica Group. Other dignitaries present at the occasion included Mr Anurag Gupta (IPS), IG, Provisions & Budget, Jharkhand Police Mr. M S Bhatia (IPS), IG, South Chotanagpur Zone, Jharkhand Police, Md. Nehal (IPS), DIG Kolhan Range, Jharkhand Police, Dr Amitabh Kaushal (IAS), DC, East Singhbhum, Mr Amol V Homkar (IPS), SSP, East Singhbhum, Mr Karthik S, SP (City) and other Senior Police Officials from Jharkhand Police, Officials from Tata Steel, Doctors from Medica Superspeciality Hospital and Police Personnel from East Singhbhum District Police.

These ambulances will operate round the clock, 365 days and will be manned by trained paramedics to rescue road traffic accident victims and rush them to the nearby hospitals free of cost. Whilst Jharkhand Police have provided six ambulances with driver, fuel, police personnel and infrastructural support for smooth and successful operation of this project, Tata Steel will help bring on board trained paramedics, provide remuneration to EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians), senior monitoring officer and also the expenses related to branding of ambulances, supervision and monitoring, command center set-up, maintenance of medicines and consumables will be borne by Tata Steel. Medica Superspeciality Hospital will manage the overall operational part of the project. The District Police and Medica Superspecialty Hospital have identified locations where the ambulances will be stationed. MSH has compiled a list of hospitals, supporting the noble cause. The ambulances will be fitted with GPS system to help locate the nearest hospital.
