OREANDA-NEWS. Bezhitsa Steel Foundry (BSZ, part of JSC Transmashholding) obtained conformity certificates for side frames and bolsters for freight-car bogies from Federal Railway Transport Certification Register.

Certification tests were performed in dedicated authorized test center - Tver Institute of Rail Car building. New certificates are valid till August, 2016.

Considering that side frames and bolsters are the most critical assemblies in the bogie, recertifi-cation procedure provides for an implicit check for compliance with enforceable safety standards ( NB ZhT TM 02-98, par. 5.1-5.6, 5.8, 5.9 and par. 4.1-4.6, 4.8, 4.9) in terms of chemical com-position, macro- and microstructure of steel, durability, and mechanical properties. Tests including those performed in cryogenic chamber at temperature of -60°C demonstrated that mass-produced bolsters and frames supporting the major load of freight cars are distinguished by reliability, high quality, precise geometry, capability of being operated at low temperatures.
