OREANDA-NEWS. Poland is considering the prospects of starting joint ventures in Belarus to process Polish farm products, Poland's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki told.

“We are interested in close cooperation with Belarus, as they are our neighbours. However, Belarus wants us to meet certain conditions: bring in investments and technologies rather than commodities, as nobody will sell them further,” the Polish minister said.

The minister explained that if Warsaw organizes for Polish fruits and vegetable to be processed in Belarus, Minsk could sell these products on the home market, while Belarusian fruits and vegetables could be exported to Russia.

The Polish minister paid a visit to Belarus on August 14. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the consequences of Russia's food import embargo and negotiate the prospects of redirecting the supplies of Polish fruits and vegetables from the Russian market to Belarus.
