OREANDA-NEWS. Traffic has been launched along new overpasses constructed by OJSC Mostotrest as part of the construction of the North-East Chord from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway.

The Exit 12 overpass and the main road overpass with a total length of 2 km have been commissioned. The reconstruction of the Entuziastov Highway section with a total length of 1 km has also been completed. The new overpasses will allow traffic flow from Perovskoy Street to the main road overpass towards Izmailovsky Highway.

The construction of a segment of the North-East Chord from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway (the second startup facility) is a complex, integrated project that entails the construction of 13 overpasses measuring a total of 8.9 kilometers, four underground and two ground-level pedestrian crossings, and a railway overpass (five railway lines) in the direction of the Moscow Little Ring Railway through Entuziastov Highway. It also involves reconstructing Lefortovo Station and building a 916-square-m passenger pavilion, rebuilding 4.5 km worth of existing tramway lines, and modifying heating networks (10 km), water ducts (13.7 km), gas pipelines (4.6 km), power lines (140 km), telephone lines (1,462 km), and other utilities on a large scale. This segment will have four lanes in both directions and two-lane traffic at entrances and exits. In the future, it will connect the new Moscow-St Petersburg route with the Moscow-Noginsk motorway (bypassing the town of Balashikha).

Traffic is already open along four exit overpasses and the main road, thereby connecting Izmailovsky Highway and Entuziastov Highway. A new railway flyover has been commissioned and freight traffic opened along the reconstructed Lefortovo Station of the Moscow Railway. In order to ensure pedestrian safety, four pedestrian crossings have been constructed - two ground-level and two underground crossings.

The Moscow Construction Department and OJSC Mostotrest signed the state contract to build a segment of the North-East Chord from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway (the second startup facility) in 2008. Originally, it was part of the Fourth Ring Road. The contract envisages phased construction, which is scheduled for completion in May 2015.
