OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2014. The merger of AS EMT (hereinafter EMT), Elion Ettevotted AS (hereinafter Elion), and AS Eesti Telekom (hereinafter Eesti Telekom) was completed on September 1, 2014. EMT and Elion were merged with Eesti Telekom.

The EMT and Elion brand names will continue to be used, but the name of the company will be Eesti Telekom (company registration number 10234957, business address: 16 Valge str., Tallinn).

"The aim of the merger is to become even more client-oriented, to offer both residential and business customers the broadest package of high quality telecommunications and IT services, solutions, and content" said Valdo Kalm, CEO of Eesti Telekom. "By operating as a joint company, we combine our strengths in technology, innovation, ability to invest, and human knowledge. As a result, we will create a new generation telecoms company in Estonia to provide the largest value on the market and to further information society".

New services are on their way for both residential and business customers. The first joint service has already been launched – the fastest internet connection in Estonia with download speeds of up to 300 Mbps is available in EMT's 4G and Elion's fibre-optic networks.

The legal merger of companies is a natural follow-up to the cooperation that began last year. In the first stage, EMT and Elion started to offer joint services by opening joint stores and launching a joint corporate customer service unit.

The management body of the joint company will include the following members: Valdo Kalm (Company Head), Valev Tonisson (Finance and Support Services), Piret Murk-Dubout (Consumer and Marketing), Tarmo Karsna (Enterprise), Tiit Tammiste (Technology), Holger Haljand (Operator), Age Vanajuur (Customer Channels), Kaja Sepp (Communication), Kristiina Maasik (Legal), and Janika Kuusik (HR).

Current EMT, Elion, and Eesti Telekom employees continue to work in the new company. Eesti Telekom employees 2,100 people.

Contracts concluded between EMT and Elion and their customers and cooperation partners, as well as all other rights, obligations, and assets will be transferred to AS Eesti Telekom on the basis of legal succession. These contracts will remain valid with the same terms after the merger, thus there will be no need to redraft contracts. After the merger, AS Eesti Telekom will replace EMT or Elion as the contract party. Additionally, all invoices will be issued by AS Eesti Telekom. Initially, customers will receive two separate invoices for EMT and Elion services.
