From today, Nordea, which belongs to the largest Nordic financial group, provides both private and small entrepreneurs 2% annual interest on 13- month euro deposits and 1% annual interest on 6-month euro deposits. The campaign is targeted at helping shape Estonian population`s saving habits.

“The bank`s responsibility as a financial corporation is to direct its customers in managing their financial affairs in the best way possible and the deposit campaign that just started is aimed at advising and educating our customers to think more about the future,“ said the Head of Nordea Baltic Saving and Investment Products Unit, Ege Metsandi. “It is important for us to send people the message that a high interest consumer or pay day loan to cover tomorrow`s desires and needs is not a sensible option. Generally, reaching the same goals by increasing savings provides a greater sense of security and satisfaction.“

“In reality, everybody can find ways to collect savings. The bank can be a consultant and partner by providing solutions based on the customer`s possibilities and expectations,“ added Metsandi.

For the second year already, Nordea is offering its customers solutions that help collected savings earn higher returns. The bank has continually strengthened its position as a provider of saving and investment products, by increasing the volume of investment products by 35% in the first six months of 2014, compared to the same period the year before.  Nordea Estonia customers` volume of deposits increased by 5% in total during the first half-year of 2014,  and private customers` deposit volume has grown by 24%, exceeding 360 million euros.
